Recipe of the Week:
Easy Lentil & Tomato Soup Dominus Style:
Ingredients:
1 Onion (Finely chopped)
1 or 2 Garlic Cloves (depending on your preference), Grated
30g/1oz Red Lentils (Pre-soaked, depending on how “al dente” you prefer (they will be fine straight into the cooking process)
Tinned Tomatoes (200g/7oz)
Veg Stock (100ml/3.5fl oz)
Smoked Paprika (teaspoon) or Jalapeno (X1)
Black Pepper, freshly ground (amount to taste preference)
Instructions:
Heat oil (olive is my preference, but you choose) over a medium heat and add onion and garlic, cooking for 2 - 3 minutes.
Allow to cool and add tinned tomatoes, lentils, veg stock, black pepper and paprika (or Jalapeno, which is finely chopped) - use a blender to create a medium coarse to fine sauce.
Bring to boil, then reduce to a simmer for around 20 minutes.
Now, for me, I like to cut a couple of slices of bread into 1-inch cubes and lightly fry them with olive oil, then serve.

Fun Food Fact: Bananas Are Berries, But Strawberries Aren't!
It might sound a bit bananas (pun intended), but botanically speaking, bananas are classified as berries! This is due to the way their flowers develop into fruit. On the other hand, strawberries, despite their name, do not meet the botanical criteria for berries, as they come from a flower with multiple ovaries.
So next time you toss some bananas into your smoothie, you can appreciate them as the true berries they are—just another quirky twist in the wonderful world of food! 🍌🍓
